  • Student Midwife Announcement

Announcement time!! Ok ok ok, so, this might not be news to some of you but, it answers a lot of the questions I have been getting so let’s make this official.

I am officially on the track to become a midwife and I am SO excited. I have attended a birth assistant workshop and an IV workshop and have a few more trainings scheduled in the very near future. I am going the direct entry route, which means I will work with and under a few midwives to sign off on a LOT of requirements and make sure I am properly trained and educated. It’s a long process but I should be done in ten-ish years (not kidding).

This doesn’t change a thing for my current doula clients. I have my birth assisting and training’s scheduled around my current clients due dates. Future doula clients should plan to book early and I will be working with Katrina from Katrina Bolduc Birth Services as a backup on the small chance I get called to assist at a birth while a doula client is in labor. This way, my clients will have someone they know and are confident in at their birth, no matter what.

2020 is my year for student midwife training and dipping my toes into birth assisting and in 2021 I will slow down on doula clients quite a bit and ramp up my student midwifery.

This path is unfolding in a meaningful and deliberate way and I am SO excited to share more of my journey with you as I move forward!

What do you think? Does Julie Francom, CPM, LDEM sound good on me?

In all cultures, the midwife’s place is on the threshold of life, where intense human emotions, fear, hope, longing, triumph, and incredible physical power-enable a new human being to emerge. Her vocation is unique.
